Recommended Self Help Books

The Market is literally teeming with all kinds of books to help aid recovery from a whole number of conditions. Self help books can be a really useful source of information and provide the tools you need to stand back and look honestly at yourself and make the changes necessary to help you on your way to feeling better, and more positive way of life.

Self-help booksOver the years I have read many books in my search for information as I was looking to find what was wrong with me or if I’m honest mainly how to change my perceptions of life, look at my thinking and work out how to put things right.

Some books I found useful and some I didn’t,  what I did find though was that often it was snippets from a number of books that I found helped me. You may be different in your own approach, it is about finding what works best for you.

Knowledge is always power, the more you learn from positive and truthful resources, the more you are able to put things into perspective.

Have a really good luck at what’s available and choose wisely. Find authors who write to suit your own personality and who you relate to, this all helps as it will keep your interest.

I have listed below the books that have helped me throughout my own journey. I keep copies to hand and dip in and out as I feel I need to.

Good luck with your own reading. Don’t forget to write to me on the comments page if you find a title that I have missed that you have found really helpful as I would love to hear from you and to add useful titles to the page.

1.FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY BY SUSAN JEFFER’S

A brilliant book for anyone who wants to become more aware of their negative thinking, it’s a light and easy read too. Its world famous and once you buy a copy you will always keep it, be wary of lending it out though as people don’t return it!.

2.THE WORRY CURE (HOW TO STOP WORRYING AND START LIVING) BY DR ROBERT L. LEAHY

More in depth self help book, which looks at your core beliefs, but if you are a real worrier its invaluable. It really helped my perspective.

3.MANAGE YOUR MIND (THE MENTAL FITNESS GUIDE) BY GILLIAN BUTLER AND TONY HOPE

A mental work book, I found I had to be in the right frame of mind to take in the information, but its brilliant. Really in depth and looks at loads, a really useful book to help you manage your own mind.

4.THE SECRET BY RHONDA BYRNE

A little book all about the power of positive thoughts and the “Law of Attraction” works on the theory that you influence your world if you believe things will happen and what you truly believe you will make. I love it, it’s a little book of positive!

5.THE INSIDE OUT REVOLUTION BY MICHAEL NEIL

Really enjoyed this book which concentrates on how we personally look at the world, really worth a read.

6.FEEL HAPPY NOW BY MICHAEL NEIL

Another good book by Michael who has such a good writing style, reading this book really made me think about how I can be happy again.

7.DEPRESSION IS A LIAR , A MEMOIR BY DANNY BAKER

At first, I did find this book a little off putting as its written from the mind of someone that is depressed and reminded me of my own negative thinking when I was Depressed, however my advice is to persevere as this book had me gripped and is a really good read. It allowed me to stand from the outside looking in on someone who is Depressed and I was able to clearly see the negative and unhelpful thinking patterns that served to keep him stuck.

8. THE HAPPINESS TRAP, BY DR RUSS HARRIS

This book has been recommended by a client of It’s just a feeling, her comments as follows:” It has helped me understand more about that voice inside my head and stepping back from it like you have said”

I aim to review this book shortly myself too after this recommendation and will provide comments on my thoughts.

9, SHOWING UP FOR LIFE, BILL GATES

10. MINDSET, THE NEW PSYCHOLOGY OF SUCCESS
